DOVE's Story...

I’m a Great Pyrenees named Dove. I’m approximately 3 - 4 years old. I was rescued from the pound and placed in rescue. How did I end up at the pound, you ask? BEATS ME!!! I’m just now getting over the trauma of it all. I was picked up by the ‘dog-catcher’ and taken to the pound. I knew I was micro-chipped and I just KNEW my owners would be called and they would come to get me. They would be VERY worried. And then, I got ‘the news’. My owners were contacted and they would NOT be picking me up. I was in shock, I was hurt and I became very worried about my fate. I began thinking, going over everything in my head; what had I done to deserve this? I am young, and a bit rambunctious, but I honestly thought this is how I was supposed to behave. I’m a teenager! I thought I was doomed, I could not eat and I could not sleep. I was terrified. The day I realized I was going to be taken into rescue was a miracle!! It was explained to me that I AM a silly teenager, but it isn’t my fault. Nobody ever taught me any different! Whew! All along I thought there was something wrong with ME. It turns out; the fault belonged to my previous owners! I want very much to learn how to behave and I can’t wait until I am adopted by someone who will provide a bit of patience, persistence and praise! Another thing I am in need of is a good grooming! I am told, this will happen very soon!!! I am sure I will be just gorgeous after that!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

DOVE, a El Paso Great Pyrenees dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Pyrenees for sale in El Paso, or seeking a Great Pyrenees dog from a breeder in El Paso.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Paso already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Paso breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Paso paves the way for another one to be saved.
