We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from CCHS, you have to complete an online application at http://www.collincountyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application.html and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
This is sweet Cassie Mae as I affectionately call her. She has not had the easiest of lives, most of hers has been spent in shelters, but that has not stopped her from seeking human contact. I first learned of Cassie when I was sent her picture with a plea to save her from a fellow foster. After seeing her face and learning she had spent the last two years plus in a shelter, how could I say no. So, a week later, I brought Cassie home. She is very timid and shy, which is fully understandable, but oh how she wags her tail when you talk to her. Sweet Cassie is a little love bug in hiding and she needs a family with patience and love to help her shine.
Cassie is a sweet Shepherd/Lab mix and is around 6 years old. She is completely house trained, is good with other dogs and thinks that cats are just funny looking dogs. With being as timid as she is, she needs a family that will be patient with her and help her to realize that it is ok to be the dog she was born to be. She would do best in a home without small kids as she will need a calmer environment to open up in. Cassie is not a barker and does not like to be left alone in the backyard for too long. We are working on leash training, but with her shyness it is a slow progress.
Cassie is slowly learning the routines of family life and I fully expect her to become a wonderful family companion. It may take her some time but I know with love and patience she will shine.
If you think that you could be the family that Cassie will shine with, please follow the link below and fill out an application so you can experience the joy of her tail wags.
Approx: 6 years old

Our Purpose is:
To rescue adoptable dogs and puppies from animal shelters and animal control facilities
To rescue dogs and puppies from abusive and neglectful situations, including puppy mills and "backyard breeders"
To help educate the public on proper animal care and promote spaying and neutering of all pets
To provide medical treatment for animals in our care
To provide foster homes for animals in our care
To place rescued animals in permanent, loving homes
To build and maintain a facility to house rescued animals and host adoptions.
To meet our pets, contact us about any dog/puppy you are interested in and we'll set up a meeting time/date between the adopter and foster home.
Adopters will complete an adoption app. If he/she has a pet, we will check their vet reference and a home visit is not needed (as long as the vet reference is current). All pets must be UTD , current on HW prev and S/N. If a home visit is needed we will compele that ASAP--as we don't want any delays in the adoption process. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs ad $250 for puppies. We spend an average of $300 on each dog/puppy, so the adoption fee helps pay for the vetting for future dogs we bring into the program. Their is a 5 day grace period to make sure he/she is a good fit for your family.
