Duke's Story...
I'm looking to be the king of someone’s castle! I’m a 1-2 year old beautiful auburn colored Terrier/Pit Mix that was surrendered to the shelter by my previous family. I’m not letting it get me down though. I’m looking for a new family who has the time to train me and teach me how to the be the best dog I can be! I’m a fairly active boy and I LOVE to play fetch! I’m learning how to share my favorite toys with my human friends.

Luckily I’ve got my very own volunteer at the shelter. She is making sure that I practice sitting and waiting for my human friends before going through doors, learning to drop a tennis ball when I want to play fetch, and learning to leave high value treats when its not time to play.

I met a few doggie friends here at the shelter but I’m kind of shy. Please bring your doggie friends to meet me if you already have a dog at home and are interested in adopting me. I met a few cats here and was interested to meet them but didn’t fixate or bark at them so I could probably live with cats! Also, families with small children should bring them along to meet me to make sure I’m a good match for your family. Please head down to the shelter to meet me today!

Act quickly to adopt Duke. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duke, a Philadelphia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
