Smidge's Story...
Smidge is a very special little girl who tugs at your heartstrings. She has an injury on one of her hind legs that didn't heal properly, is tiny and frail-looking, and is extremely shy around people she hasn't met. And yet, there is nothing more rewarding than gaining her trust, watching her climb into your lap and curl up into the most adorable little ball. However, although her favorite place to be is definitely on a warm lap, she does enjoy short walks, and can walk just fine despite her leg injury.

The shelter environment is very overwhelming and frightening for her, but despite it all, she is still so eager to love and trust someone who can be gentle and make her feel safe. Outside of the shelter, she would have a much easier time, but still needs someone who can be patient, gentle and understanding. But if you can be that person, you can be sure she will reward you with so much love.

Act quickly to adopt Smidge. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smidge, a Berkeley Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
