Baby Ruth's Story...
This dog is residing in a foster home in Los Angeles.

Baby Ruth was purchased from Craig's List by a couple who thought they were buying a 2-year-old Maltese. When they got their plump little Baby Ruth home she started to cough so they called back the seller and he admitted that Baby Ruth was 11-years-old. The couple contacted AMA Rescue because they didn't want a senior Maltese with medical issues. Baby Ruth has since received a thorough cardiac evaluation with a specialist and she has a slightly enlarged heart and some mitral valve leakage which is being treated with an inexpensive cardiac drug. Her coughing was due to the early signs of collapsing trachea though x-rays did not confirm this and her foster does not hear her coughing except when she is over excited about going for a walk. Both of these conditions are common in older Maltese and they require only maintenance with inexpensive medication.

Baby Ruth defies her diagnosis, she's extremely energetic and playful. Her foster takes her on long, brisk walks and she's always the first in line to get on the treadmill. She loves her food and will do every trick under the sun to get more. Baby is so smart and easy to take care of. She does a perfect sit, down, paw and touch. She sleeps comfortably through the night and goes potty as soon as you take her outside in the morning. She is very quiet and calm when you leave the house and the only time you hear her bark is when the leash comes out of the closet - then she is ready to go!

Baby Ruth just had a full dental last week, her teeth are lovely and she recovered extremely well from anesthetic. She has lost her excess weight and has a svelte waist to match her good look and her lab profile looks exceptional. Baby Ruth gets along great with all dogs and has a very commanding and independent presence. She is adorable.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baby Ruth, a Fort Braff Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Fort Braff, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Fort Braff.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Braff already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Braff breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Braff paves the way for another one to be saved.
