Kobe is a one-and-a-half-year old, 11 lb. red, smooth-coat Dachshund mixed with most likely Miniature Pinscher. He is a lot cuter in person than his photos show him. Kobe is adorable! One of his best features is his beautiful green eyes. Kobe is a great dog who had a rough start in life when he found himself with a family that clearly were not dog lovers and who treated Kobe meanly and banned him to the outdoors. Lucky for Kobe, Southern California Dachshund Rescue was willing to take him in and find him a loving home.

Kobe gets along with all other dogs and he just wants to play, run, and chase. He would make a great companion to your already existing dog if what you are hoping for is a nice doggie playmate. When Kobe is in the presence of another dog or dogs, he seems to be well in his comfort zone! Because of Kobe’s rough start, he is still cautious when introduced to new people, but he does eventually warm up once he realizes that you are friend not foe. Once your friendship is earned, he wants nothing more than to be petted and hugged. He is still learning to trust, and is coming out of his shell, little by little. He still retreats when beckoned, because in his original home, he was obviously over-corrected, and “in trouble” when he was called, but in truth, all Kobe wants is to be picked up, held, comforted, and loved just like any warm beating heart wants. Will you be that person who gives Kobe a chance?

Kobe needs a home with someone who is patient, or a home with another small dog who is friendly, social, and who can help guide him to be more confident and trusting. He is fine with children as long as they understand how to be gentle in their approach and can understand that Kobe may not wish to play with them initially. His best fit seems to be a home where there in another dog for him to play with and help mentor him. Kobe is crate-trained, and after a whimper or two, settles right down for a nap, or for nighttime sleeping. We are still working on doggie door training, and some commands. Kobe is a loving and sweet dog who once he befriends you will be your loyal friend for life. He just needs someone who will give him a chance to relax and settle in a loving and nurturing home.

Kobe is neutered, fully vaccinated, as well as micro-chipped. If you can help Kobe by either providing foster care, or a permanent home, please contact his foster mom, Dawn, at 714-961-0114 or dawnaa@pacbell.net
