My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update September 11, 2012: I have been spayed and chipped. I am now waiting for my dental to be done and is scheduled for the end of September, 2012. I am feeling much more confident walking on different surfaces and am not shaking like I did when I first arrived. I love and look for pets from my foster family. I love treats. I have been introduced to the commands "step up" and "step down" and my foster mommy will take me over to the stairs to try to get me to go up and down. The most I have done is 2 steps. It is definitely I am going to try to learn.

August 26, 2012: Hi, I'm Truffle. I was born sometime in 2005. I was a puppy mill breeder dog and had way too many litters over the last 6 1/2 years. I was not treated nicely. However, when my previous owner no longer wanted me, BDRA took me in and gave me a new life. I am now living in a house, with adults, cats and dogs. I am very sweet to everyone. I am just becoming comfortable with my surroundings. I love to walk in the yard, but do not like walking on other surfaces. Flooring is getting better. I am very quiet, I do not know any commands or how to do steps. But I'm told I will be learning steps once I feel comfortable with the flooring. I'm housebroken (I don't tell you when I have to go, but I'm on a schedule) and I'm crate trained. Generally, when out of my crate, I walk around in the kitchen and family room but don't really venture. This is all new to me.

I would do best in a home with a "mentor" dog or two, cats are okay, but I never had experience with children and not sure if that is a good idea. I am shy but will take treats and food from my human's hand. I do allow being picked up and being groomed. I am learning to sit with my human on a chair but I still shake because I'm scared. I generally am scared when I'm unsure of what is expected of me.

I really would love a furever home, but I need someone who will have lots of patience and who doesn't expect me to play fetch. Based on my background, I pretty much am a "couch potato", only you find me on the floor. Someday, I would love to be someone's "companion dog". Are you that person? If so, please fill out an application today!! I will be spayed and microchipped very shortly!
