Lila and her sister Samara were trapped to be spayed as feral cats, but the trappers could tell they were very friendly and obviously didn’t belong living outside, so they asked AnimaLovers to find them homes. Although full grown, Samara and Lila are petite – like permanent kittens! Both girls are low key, but are learning to play with toys (balls with bells in them and catnip mice are favorites) and to like just hanging out with their foster mom. Their favorite spot is the cat tree, watching the squirrels and birds, or cuddled up for a snooze in the sun.
Samara is the shyest and Lila is more outgoing, but both girls are very gentle and affectionate and love to cuddle and be held. They were in a foster home with lots of other cats and did just fine, although Samara was not very fond of a young, super-playful boy in the house. Although there were no children in their foster home, their mom thinks they’re so gentle they’d be fine with children, as long as they were properly introduced. It would be wonderful if these two loving sisters could go home together, but they’d also be fine being adopted separately. Please call 448-5468, and press 1 for the adoption line.

AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital District of New York with a better way to find their way to safety and new lives. As of 2011, AnimaLovers is serving cats, only. AnimaLovers's mission is to:
* To provide housing, veterinary care, and adoption for unwanted, abandoned, injured, or stray cats;
* To educate adopters, as well as the general public, about the health and training needs of our companion animals;
* To promote spaying and neutering as an efficient and humane means of animal population control; and
* To advocate for legislation that will prevent cruelty to animals.
In addition, AnimaLovers has expanded beyond the boundaries of cat and dog rescue and adoption to meet the needs of other animals as well by creating programs to help families keep their companion animals healthy by providing low cost spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care.
