Hi there, I'm Dorie. I'm a little eight pound black poodle girl. I was born on 2-04-10. My life has changed so much in the past few months and I wanted to tell you about it. See, I was born in a cage surrounded by other dogs. The only thing is, I never left that cage. It was pretty big and I was able to run around a bit but it was still a cage. You see, it was my job to have puppies. Litter after litter. Only, it didn't work out like that. I guess I wasn't a very good Mommy but my first puppies didn't do so good. I don't remember too much, just that next thing I know I was getting in a big vehicle and now I'm here. I like it better here. I still sleep in a crate but during the day I get to run and play with my friends. There is always good food and clean water and best yet, no more puppies. The lady who takes care of us says that someone will want to adopt me soon and I can have a nice big home and a soft bed to sleep in. I get so excited when she tells me that, that I dance all around. She says to tell you that I don't always like other female dogs so maybe I could just have a brother or I could even be an only child. Are you my new home? Please love me forever. Love, Dorie.
Dori is heart worm positive and currently going through treatment.
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application
here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
