My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Malakai (Kai to his friends) is an energetic Husky pup that was found as a stray. He has a beautiful dark red coat with stunning amber eyes, a combination not often seen.

He is playful and enjoys exercise, yet in his quiet times, although rare, he is very affectionate. He is an excellent walking companion and does not pull. During his walks, he has encountered dogs and birds of all sizes and, although they do catch his attention, he stays calm and a gentle tug brings him back to focus. He has also encountered kids and he has been pleasant. However, due to his size and strength, when around kids, supervision is recommended.

He is crate trained and spends the night safely in his crate. Since arriving at his foster home, Malakai has had no accidents. For now, we would say he is housebroken. His foster parents allow him to go out to the backyard frequently to make sure he takes care of his needs. He will thrive better in a home where there is someone around a good part of the day and he is not left alone for too long.

His foster parents have started training him and he has shown great improvement. He is food motivated, which helps. By the second day, he was obeying the sit command. He is very mouthy in his play (typical of puppy behavior) and loves to jump up and give you Husky kisses. He accepts correction and is making progress on this behavior as well. His food has been removed while eating and he does not show any food aggression towards humans.

Malakai may be good with other dogs his size in the household, but his behavior is unknown with smaller dogs and animals. He loves squeaky toys and Nylabones, what young Husky doesn't? He will fetch a ball when thrown and drops it on his own or on command.

Overall, Malakai is a sweet young boy looking for a forever home. It would be best if potential adopters have a secure fenced backyard as he gets bored easily and may want to wander the neighborhood if left without supervision.

Kai is healthy, Heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all his shots. This boy can turn your life around for the better so why continue your dull, drab existence? Bring some joy and excitement into your life by giving this boy a chance at a loving, forever home. Fill out an adoption application on ou web site, WWW.SIBERRESCUE.COM, today.
