Harvey's Story...
Harvey is a male buff-color Cocker Spaniel. We think he could be between 7 and 8 years of age. He came to us from the Austin City dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked him up being loose (most likely abandoned), and placed him into the dog pound. Harvey is already neutered, but will be going to the Vet for a dental cleaning and to have an eyelid cyst removed. Harvey displays a generous amount of spunk and energy, given that he is around 7 or 8 years of age. He has shown some occasional hesitation around some men, but that might be largely due to the intimidating surroundings at the Shelter. He’s done fine with our other Shelter dogs, but obviously he might not be able to keep up with a younger playmate. The adoption fee for Harvey is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harvey, a Austin Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Austin, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
