Barney & Navin's Story...
Hello, my name is Navin, I am a Yellow Nape Amazon and this is my best friend Barney, he is an Orange Winged Amazon, and we have to be adopted together. We have been together our entire life (more than 25 years) and we like to talk to each, however I say more English words then he does. He says “Hi” and he likes to make a kissing sound, but I say “Hello”, “What cha doin?”, and “You wanna come out?” I also say “Here Kitty Kitty Kitty”, “Wanna come by me?”, “Whose a pretty bird”, “what's a chicken say? bock-bock-bock-bock-bock!". I also can make donkey sounds and I have a little tune I love to sing that I like you to finish. My foster Mom says the funniest thing is when I imitate one side of a telephone conversation and then laugh and laugh! I will step up occasionally and sometimes will sit on your shoulder and nuzzle you some, but Barney doesn’t like to, although he is friendly. While we like humans of course, we really prefer each other, but we will interact with you – on our own terms of course! We also each have our separate large cages, but we prefer being in one cage together as long as we are allowed out of cage time for several hours a day, at least. Our other cage is used to take us outside for showers, fresh, air, and sunlight! We both like to eat, but I am more picky than Barney is, which Mom says is weird because she says I am on the chunkier side – I just say I am happy! We are on a fabulously healthy diet though which includes quality pellets, fresh vegetables (and chop!) as well as some fruits, and only healthy nuts (remember, no peanuts for parrots!). Please come and meet us soon, we would love to have a family of our own again!

About Our Rescue Group...

Florida Parrot Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of companion parrots. We strive to educate parrot owners on proper handling and care of parrots.
