Special Teddy's Info...
I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
WANTED: A Very Special Adopter!! Teddy is a fun-loving boy... (check out the attached video where he is playing with his foster brother, a 6lb chihuahua). He likes to enjoy his days playing with other dogs and "stalking" the shed in hopes of catching a chipmunk or lord only knows what else he is on the hunt for. He loves to spend time outside. And is a GREAT walker on the leash! He is a pleasure to take for a walk..AND he loves to greet new people. He is very friendly !!
He also loves to cuddle up on the couch or the bed to keep you company during a good movie or a restful nights sleep.
Teddy is only 5 years old and in that short time, he has become a master of pain management. Teddy had 12 kidney stones he suffered with for quite some time before he arrived in our rescue. After his surgery to remove these painful stones, Teddy contracted multiple baterial infections but happy Teddy has survived it all and now has been infection free for quite some time.
Due to all the trama, Teddy is now incontinent. We are not sure if this is a permanent or short-lived condition but it is how he is now. He takes 3 Proin (prescribed by vet) per day to assist him in his bladder control. And when in the house, he wears a baby diaper (size 4 huggies) which just nicely wraps around his mid section. (He knows how to wiggle out of anything else). In addition to this challenge, Teddy also has "dry eye' in his left eye which occassionally requires a medicated gel. Sometimes just keeping it "clean" is good enough and no meds are needed but it's nice to have them on hand.
Because of Teddy's past infections, he will require an extra vet visit each year for a bladder tap (unless you can catch his urine..he walks and pees..he doesn't just stand there) to check for any possible infections. After a long period of being infection free, the vet may stop any additional requirement but for now.. because he is prone to the life-threatening (and VERY painful) infection, having him checked more often than not is always best.
We realize placing Teddy with his potentially long-term incontinent condition may be nearly impossible. But we have to try!! He is such a good boy who just wants to be loved. He wants to play and enjoy life! He is good with other dogs after he gets to know them though is sometimes picky on who he stays friends with. He is protective of his food and treats. Despite these things, in the right home.. he is amazing!!! He listens..he knows his name...he barks with happiness when you get home.. he is independent yet loving. Not to mention, he is a cutie!
We hope and pray we can find a special home with a super-huge heart to show Teddy some love!!! He will be forever grateful!!

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/applications.htm
The completion of the application does NOT, in any way, obligate you to adopt. It is the first step in meeting a dog you are interested in [once the application is approved, the second step will be a home visit/meet and greet with your pet(s)
Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are “furever” happy!
