Trapper's Story...
1-2 year old male Dachshund – Chihuahua mix - adorable!
Trapper was found running loose and a concerned resident contacted Dogs Unlimited Rescue to coax him into a cage. His first 3 days were spent hiding in his cage. He has slowly began to learn to trust people again, but he will most likely take a little time to adjust to a new home. It will take a couple of weeks, so someone with a lot of love and patience is a must.

Because of his battle with fear, it is recommended that adoptors not have small children, which is more for Trapper's sake than the children. He is a sweet, gentle little man, and has never shown any aggression, even at his most fearful.

Trapper will also do better in a home that has at least one playful dog to help show him the ropes. He's partial to females (he's a ladies' man), and may take a little longer to adapt to another male dog. He is a ball of energy, so a fenced in yard is a must.

If you are interested in adopting, please take the first step and complete an Adoption Application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/applications.htm
If you have any trouble opening the application simply download the latest version of Adobe Reader for free at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

The submission of a completed Application is not a guarantee to adopting the pet and that all applications are processed thoroughly and if approved a home visit/”meet and greet” will be scheduled. If home check is approved and "meet and greet" with all pets involved goes well the Adoption Committee will decide final approval based on all applications received as to which one is the very best fit for the individual dog/cat. Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are “furever” happy!

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up‐to‐date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trapper, a Cleveland Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Cleveland, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Cleveland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cleveland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cleveland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cleveland paves the way for another one to be saved.
