Hi, My name is Josie and I’m patiently waiting to meet my new forever family. I’m a small golden girl and my foster Mom says I’m very sweet. She also says that I’m pretty smart and know all my commands – the usual stuff, like sit, stay, down, and come. I’ve also learned to “wait” when it’s time to eat and I know a couple tricks too. I’m learning more about “leave it” and I quickly figured out what it means when foster Mom says “release”. I love hanging out with my foster family, and enjoy taking naps throughout the day. I’m okay with other dogs as long as they are nice to me. And as far as we know I’m okay with cats too. I spent a few hours at the groomers one day and there was a cat hanging around and I didn’t try to eat it or chase it, or anything like that, so that’s probably a good thing, right?
I don’t need a lot of exercise, cause I’m more of a senior girl. But I don’t want to sign up for AARP yet either. I’m fine with a walk or just throwing the ball in the back yard is good too. And if you have a pool, I’m in. Thunder and lightening are not a problem, but I’m a little shy around blow dryers. I’ll let you know if the door bell rings or if I hear a noise outside, but I’ll settle right down as long as you tell me that everything is fine. I’m pretty independent and I usually don’t get into too much trouble, unless you leave a paper towel on the counter. I don’t know why, but I really like the way they taste.
I’m a little funny when it comes to car rides. Probably haven’t had a lot of experience in the past, but I’ve had a little more recently. I usually holler shotgun and sometimes I get to ride up front.
I’m looking for a family that will take care of me, love me and let me love them too.
Training:  Knows basic commands, "wait", working on "release", "leave it"
Compatibility: Other dogs: depends, Cats OK, Kids Unknown
Activity Level: Moderate

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Josie, a Scottsdale Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Scottsdale, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Scottsdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Scottsdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Scottsdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Scottsdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
