My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cameo came to us as a result of a phone call from a Florida animal service center. Thanks goodness because he was scheduled to be euthanized. His owner had turned him in to the shelter. The poor little fellow apparently has not had it very good in his 10 months of life. He was very thin and had a skin condition that had caused him to lose most of his hair on his hind quarters. It was most likely a flea allergy, but whatever caused it, it seems to be a none issue now because his skin is healing and his hair is starting to grow back in. He is going to be one handsome black tri.

Cameo is a very playful little fellow but what else would you expect from a puppy. He is very skittish when meeting new people though. He may have been abused but it is more likely he was just not socialized with anyone as a puppy. He wants to be loved and cuddled and if ignored, he will sneak up to you and begin to lick your hand to get attention. He will settle close by and just smile at you but does not quite trust us yet. He is very good with the other dogs and has not met a dog he does not like or want to play with. He loves to run and play in the woods with the other dogs. He runs like the wind and seems to enjoy just kicking up his heels! He is completely house trained which surprised us since he seems so frightened to be in the house. We are giving him time to adjust and trust but will begin command training and a lot of socialization very soon. He is already sleeping very well in his crate at night. He is very good with children 6 years and up but we do not know about young children or if he is good with cats. Toys seem to be a very new thing to him as he does not know quite what to do with them yet. With a little time, we think Cameo will have a lot of love and Aussie kisses to give anyone who adopts him. He already has that awesome Aussie smile and the wiggle butt down pat!

Cameo is being fostered in Havana, FL. 7/10/07
