Feather's Story...
I am a Shelter Pull Kitty! This means that when you adopt me, FOF can save another kitty from a high kill county shelter.'

Feather is one of dozens of cats we have saved from death at a county shelter in the past year. Although we are not in the habit of pulling cats from shelters, (we are usually full with our own rescues) we do what we can to help. Feather was dropped off by her owner along with another adult cat. When she first arrived here to FOF she was very shy and aloof. We were able to place her in a foster home recently where she has thrived. We see this with many cats; they really come out of their shells in a 'home' environment. She enjoys the company of other cats and is even sleeping on the bed with the foster parents now. Feather is still a very young adult at less than 2 years of age, and has a lot of life yet to live. We would love to see someone with a multi cat household and time to bond with her give her a chance!

***Update: Feather is once again being housed in our adoption center. Please come and meet this gem of a cat--she really wants to go home!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Feather, a Grand Rapids Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Grand Rapids, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Grand Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
