Leonard's Story...
Leonard and Penny (knock, knock, knock) are the survivors of a litter of 5 from a rural county in Virginia, whose poor starving mama was unable to care for them. After efforts to rescue the mama failed and 2 babies died, rescuers took the 3 remaining babies, one of which was too weak to survive. They were about 3 1/2 weeks old then.

They were bottle fed by humans and Leonard and Penny are now rollicking healthy kittens, loving life and lighting up when a person comes in to see them. Penny resembles a blue manx and Leonard may have medium length hair when he gets bigger. They are bonded, and if you take one away, the one left behind cries loudly. They are looking for a forever home together.

RappCats is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that helps stray, abused, abandoned and unwanted cats in Rappahannock County, VA, a rural county that has no cat shelter. They will be neutered and have all shots before they go to their new home. They are FELV/FIV negative.

For more information or to adopt, contact us at 540-987-8099, email us at rappcats@rappcats.org., or visit our website www.rappcats.org or our FaceBook page.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a very small rescue group in a very small rural county in central Virginia (pop. 7,000). Our county lacks the resources to operate a cat shelter and we are trying to develop a sustainable cat rescue. We try to help residents to find homes for the many homeless cats in our community.

Because the county is so small, most of our placements are out of the county.

All RappCats are healthy, neutered, FELV-negative, and are up to date on all shots.

Our Adoption Process...
We conduct an initial phone interview/counseling to try to assure a good match. During the interview, the counselor fills out an application. We can arrange for you to meet the cat after that, if you wish.

We check vet references and will bring the cat to your home, as another way we try to be sure the cat will be a good fit for your family.

Our standard adoption fee is $85, and can be waived.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve Rappahannock Country, Virginia, and frequently place cats in other parts of Northern Virginia and Central Virginia, and the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Leonard, a Washington Domestic Mediumhair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Mediumhair for sale in Washington, or seeking a Domestic Mediumhair kitten from a breeder in Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Mediumhair breeders who help with Domestic Mediumhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
