Dorothy's Story...
Meet Dorothy! She is a GORGEOUS black lab, possible mix with a Great Pryenees that is about 1-2 years old. She is wonderful, playful and loving just like all other retrievers. She loves other dogs, does not mind cats and is good with children - she is currently in a foster home with all the above. She is young and will need some training and daily exercise. We would like to see Dorothy go to a home with another dog so she would have a constant playmate. Dorothy is house trained and has good leash manners. She is a doll and she is ready for her new home! If you are interested in adoptiong Dorothy, please go our website and ready through our "blind adoption" policy http://www.adoptagoldenknoxville.org/new_england.html
NOTE: Adopt A Golden Knoxville rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in your area. These dogs are fostered in private homes in East Tennessee. Therefore, it is not possible to meet the dogs and pups prior to their adoption. They are brought up north on a USDA transporter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dorothy, a Glastonbury Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees for sale in Glastonbury, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees dog from a breeder in Glastonbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Glastonbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Glastonbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Glastonbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
