My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An athletic, housebroken, sweet-mannered girl, Lilly was adopted from us several years ago to what we thought was a wonderful home. After 6 years with them, the family contacted OKBR and wanted to return Lilly because of "unacceptable urination problems." They had not taken her to the vet and rejected OKBR's offer to help pay for a vet visit and medical testing. Instead, they returned her to us an almost unrecognizable dog. The third photo is of Lilly when we first adopted her out; the last one was taken when she was returned. Sick and emaciated, she had not been given even the most basic of veterinary care. Our veterinarian immediately diagnosed her with a tick disease that would have been easily preventable and treated, but had been left untreated for several years. The disease has destroyed her spleen and is killing off all of her white blood cells.

OKBR and our partner Rockyspot Rescue are raising funds for Lilly's vet care and surgery to remove her diseased spleen to help her recover. For more on her story or to donate to her cause, please visit: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/rockyspot-rescue/misslilly

UPDATE, Spring 2013: Lilly went through several intensive vet procedures, including multiple blood transfusions and removal of her spleen. She recovered well (the first two pictures were taken the most recently) but is still looking for a forever home that will love her and care for her much better than her previous one! Come meet her and see what a great girl our tough little Lilly is.
