Djorn's Story...
Djorn is a very beautiful, shy, sweet and extremely gentle, five-month-old, female, orange tabby kitten without eyes looking for a loving guardian. Djorn came to Chicago Animal Care and Control without eyes in the sockets and vets feel that she was born this way. She is otherwise a very healthy, happy and loving kitten. She would do best in a quiet home with another gentle-natured cat to hang out with. Djorn loves to play with toys that make noise … she can chase them around and bat at them when she can hear them. As far as eating goes … if you put the food in front of her, she can smell where it is … same with her litter box. Her hearing and sense of smell are excellent! Active dogs scare her and she can’t get out of the way if chased, but she does well with gentle dogs. She has a very loud purr that can be heard across the room when she’s happy. She uses her litter box like a good girl, is very healthy, spayed, de-wormed, virus-tested, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact her foster mom Katye at singsingkitty@yahoo.com or call/text 815-603-1157. Djorn is being fostered in Chicago’s Jefferson Park neighborhood. Her adoption fee of $125 benefits the rescued pets of the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Djorn, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
