Sawyer's Story...
Hi! My name is Sawyer. I was a stray that they brought into the shelter in Chicago. I was very confused as to why I was there. A lot of people kept telling me I would find a rescue to take me home but it wasn't happening. I began to wonder why I wasn't getting to go home like some of the other dogs. Was it because of my fur color? Maybe it was my big ears? I was very sad at having to sit in that small cage day in & day out. It was very loud too & that didn't make me happy either. I was there for a long time & I knew my time was coming to an end. I heard some people say I was on the "list". I wasn't sure what that meant but it didn't sound good.
I found out I had 48 hours left to be alive. No one wanted me & the volunteers felt really bad. They kept telling me they were still trying to find someone for me. Then it happened. These 2 girls were at the shelter looking at some other dogs they were going to rescue. The volunteers asked them to take a look at me also. I put on my bestest puppy smile & wagged my tail nervously. Would they like me? Oh please please like me!! They took me out and gave me hugs and kisses and asked if I would like to go home and they would find me my "forever home". I was very excited to be leaving!! I went to a foster home and got to play with other dogs & puppies and go for walks and play with my foster parents kids! It was great! I was hopefully being adopted by this really nice lady who had another dog that I really liked to play with. She was "fostering" me first to see how it went. Her dog though got really sick and has Cancer so I had to go to boarding because my other foster mom can't take me back. I don't mind it so much. I get to go on walks & have other dogs to talk to but it isn't home. I just want a home of my own where I can snuggle at someones feet & lay by their side. Maybe play some ball in the yard & even play with a human or doggie brother or sister. Please don't pass me by! The girls saw something in me that no one else did. Unconditional love. I hope you see it too!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sawyer, a Glenview Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in Glenview, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Glenview.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Glenview already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Glenview breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Glenview paves the way for another one to be saved.
