Remy's Story...
“REMY”
Orange Winged Amazon
Fostered by Mike & Jen S of Apopka, FL
I am Remy (aka Spooky); I am a 12 year old Orange Winged Amazon. I came into the rescue after myself and other flock mates were left to fend for ourselves. Florida Parrot Rescue has our story in more detail, to read more click on this link.
I am a lucky parrot to have been taken in and cared for so well by my foster mom and dad. They are also caring for two of my Quaker friends Abby and Bailey. We are not bonded but I get upset sometimes when Abby leaves the room. In general, I am a quiet bird outside of morning and evening flock calls. (I picked up that habit from the macaws.) I don’t talk a lot but when I am nervous or scared I say “uh-oh.” I am a good boy when I am out, I will sit on your hand and let you scratch my head. I really love those head scratches. I was on some medicine and vitamins when I first came into the rescue but have recently been given a clean bill of health. I look forward to finding my forever home and leaving the past behind me. Oh, I’ve got a video my foster dad took of me sitting with foster mom. Check it out!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Remy, a Tampa Amazon was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Amazon for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Amazon from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Amazon breeders who help with Amazon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
