Sprout's Story...
Sprout is a beautiful little green cheek conure who came out of a home with 29 other birds in North Carolina (you can read more about that intake and the other birds here ( We were told that Sprout is approximately 8 months old, however, we feel she/he is a little younger, about 5-6 months. He is a little underweight, but has been gaining since coming into rescue and has received a clean bill of health from the vet. He eats very well, but so far only pellets and some seed. We are working on getting him to eat more types of foods including fresh vegetables and some fruits. Sprout is not an aggressive bird at all, however, he is not used to being handled and has no idea how to step up, so he just needs a little work as he is scared of hands. Once you are able to get him out of the cage (he runs from you a little until he gets used to you, but does not bite), he is very friendly and likes to be scritched and cuddled and will groom you as well! He just needs a little training to be the perfect companion!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sprout, a Tampa Conure was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Conure for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Conure from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Conure breeders who help with Conure rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
