Dakota-2's Story...
This 1 year old boy is a beautiful red and white beagle whose life got a very bad start. You see, he was used as bait in a fighting operation in West Virginia. The fact that he made it out alive is a miracle and only because an eye witness beckoned the authorities who immediately confiscated him. He was severely injured with bite wounds over much of his body. We have many pictures of him after the multiple surgeries it took to put him back together. The good news is that he is a very sweet dog who actually gets along great with other dogs…..unless they look like a wolf. The fighting dogs were wolf hybrids.

Dakota’s abusers were prosecuted in court and he was released to our organization. As soon as his wounds were all healed up, we brought him via airline to Portland, where he is thriving in a wonderful foster home. Dakota-2 is an energetic guy who is also a cuddle bug. He is playful and quick, but he’s also happy to curl up with you and watch a movie by your side. He has a typical beagle appetite and loves treats.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dakota-2, a Portland Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Portland, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
