Brown Sugar's Story...
This beautiful Australian Shepherd is Brown Sugar, who is about 1 year old. “Sugar” is a very energetic, playful pooch who loves to go for walks and chase tennis balls. She is very curious and follows her foster parents around the house just to see what is going on. She tries to play with her foster sisters, but they are older dogs and not much interested in being awake. Sugar always has a smile on her face and a wiggle in her behind – she is a very happy girl. She is putting the finishing touches on her house-breaking, but is a smart girl and learns quickly. She does well with being in a crate, but is definitely ready to come out when her foster parents come home! Sugar knows how to sit, stay, and come and will sit for you while having her leash put on. Sugar is a great dog who needs to have a nice yard to run in or someone who is willing to walk or run with her.

As HAHS has several adoption locations, please contact Melissa at bandm@everestkc.net to find out when and where you can meet BROWN SUGAR!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Brown Sugar, a Overland Park Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
