McKenna is a purebred RAGAMUFFIN (Google Ragamuffin and Ragdoll to learn more about the breed.) Ragamuffins were developed when breeders wanted to add more colors to the limited palate of the Ragdoll, so they crossed back to the Persians. Ragamuffins are the same size and disposition as Ragdolls, but they come in different colors. The color choices available in this form do NOT cover any kind of COLORPOINT cat like Siamese, Ragdoll or Ragamuffin. Her Official color is "Seal/Sepia" which looks much like a Himalayan Tortie Point. Her legs, tail, ears and mask are darker than her body (i.e. "colorpoint") and her body is buff and cream. Her mask dark and she has a a little cream moustache, with lots of "sepia" shading over her body and some tabby stripes down her tail. She was shaved down for summer and is growing out her luxurious long coat now. You can see how long her full coat will be by looking at the tip of her tail, which was left long (she had a "lion clip"). She is sweet, funny, affectionate, gentle, and sensitive. She needs to be loved and petted, groomed, played with and paid attention too, then she's a happy camper. She is tolerant of other cats but doesn't seem to need them for company -- she prefers humans in general and will happily follow you around the house and sit next to you wherever you are. She is very sensitive and needs a peaceful home with lots of love.
We are a small rescue group and all our animals are in foster homes, not at Petsmart or any public location. Private visitation will be arranged for potential adopters. Click on the CONTACT link above for more info and more pictures. If you would like a phone call, please send us your phone number and a good time to call.
Rescue Group Info...
This group was started because I moved next door to a State park (Red Top Mountain State Park) and animals are frequently abandoned there, particularly cats and kittens. Caring people find them at camp sites or summer home communities etc. and need a way to find homes for them. We have had a web site on Petfinder for many years and now have joined Adopt A Pet also.
All our pets are in foster care. We do NOT have a shelter, and we do not take animals out to adoption events unless we are fostering for one of the local Humane Societies. We respond to online inquiries by email, arrange a telephone interview if the person is interested, once they are pre-approved to adopt, we will bring the animals to their house for a "meet & greet."
Adoption fees vary depending on amount of medical work done, age of animal and adoptability, etc.
We have a standard adoption contract.
Requirements: NO DECLAW, inside only unless accompanied by an adult, spay/neuter/rabies vaccine by 6 months of age if adopted out under 3 months of age; return to us at ANY time for any reason, do not pass on to others or take to animal control!
We are located about 30 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia. Most of our adoptions are in this area, but we do not rule out good homes because of distance. We do not ship animals, but if you are willing to drive to the Atlanta area, we can meet you outside the city limits to save you travel time.
