I am already neutered and up to date with shots.
Nygil is a 5 (6 in February) year old neutered male Rhodesian Ridgeback/Shepherd mix whose owner could no longer care for him. He was rescued from a shelter at one year of age by a wonderful woman who now finds herself unable to care for him. He will be available for adoption on November 9th after 6pm.
Nygil has a lot of energy and would make a great running/hiking partner. However no bike riding with this boy; he gets nervous around bikes and motorcycles. He's a very gentle dog that loves attention from his people, but can be a little high-strung so wouldn't be good in an apartment or patio yard. He currently walks 5-10 miles a day and he loves to exercise; he is the perfect dog for an active person who wants to take their dog everywhere.
His main 'problems' are getting upset about motorcycles and barking at them, and he will dig if bored and not exercised. That is the only way he's ever been destructive and he's great in the house alone and has had to be left in the house for up to 11 hours with no trouble.
This boy is very smart and loyal and would love to have more training -- you could teach him to do most anything. He loves most dogs, but can get a little dominant around other males if they are trying to be overly dominant. He is okay with cats but will chase if they run (because it's fun). Nygil has been okay with kids but has never lived with any, just visited them.
If you want to apply for Nygil click here. You can then email the application to the Meridian Humane Society.Applications are now being accepted, and a visitation with the dog is encouraged. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.
