I am up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
UPDATE Christmas Day: Tommy Boy has turned into a really good looking boy. He is quiet but he is a real presence in a room. He has stature. If you will look at the video, you will see that as I was getting video of some of the other dogs, he cane right over and sat right next to me as if to direct the process - or just oversee. Didn't make a sound. This is such an amazing dog. You have to meet him to understand why we love him so much. Remember just a short time ago we could see the bones in his tail he was so thin...
We thought an almost dead possum had been dropped on our parking lot when Tommy Boy came to us. He was bald and so very thin you could see the bones in his paws and the bones in his tail. TommyBoy was a real mess.
A lot of loving and some good food have brought our sweet TB back and he is ready for his forever home now. He is a quiet fella but that tail will start wagging in no time at all when he sees that you are his new family. He has most of his fur back but I promise you he is going to fill out even more and in no time he will be a real eye-catcher. We believe Tommy is about 2 years old.
If you are interested in adopting this dog please give us a call.
We know each of the animals entrusted to our care by name and we will be happy to tell you all about the personality and little quirks that make each animal so loved. Our adoption fee for a dog is $100 and that covers all shots and vetting and spay/neuter. Our animals are fully vetted before we send them off to their new family.
We do not have regular open hours but will be happy to make an appointment for you to visit. Call 662-363-1625, 662-519-1700 or 662-363-5555. We are located at 4500 Fox Island Road in Tunica, MS

Help this Shelter by making a donation.
The Tunica Humane Society desires to improve the quality of life for all animals in Tunica County by aggressively pursuing a high quality, low cost spay-neuter program. We are dedicated to saving the lives of all animals who are endangered, neglected, abandoned or abused. It is our hearts desire to see Tunica become a "NO KILL" model community in a world where over 5 million dogs and cats are destroyed every year simply because they are considered "disposable".
"Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin, and Toto don't show up in a rescue shelter. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, or perfectly behaved dog or cat. We get leftovers. Animals that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained" and badly treated. Most rescue dogs and cats have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've lived outside..in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed, and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up.
But the Tunica Humane Society will not give up. We will never give up on an animal. We know that they are living beings, with a spirit, a heart, and feelings. Our animals are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminister champion. So...please, please don't come to rescue a dog or cat in the hopes of getting a "bargain" or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to the shelter to give, to love, and to save a life and to mend your own spirit. For rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. We can promise you this...a rescue dog or cat will make you a better person." UNKNOWN
At the Tunica Humane Society, our goal is to do the best adoption possible...matching you with a pet that will become a lifelong member of your family. To ensure the best possible match between adopter and pet, we ask that you read and understand the information provided regarding our adoption policies and procedures. You will be asked to sign a legal contract when adopting your pet and you must pay an adoption fee/donation. The fees go directly to our rescue group to help us save more animals. Thank you for opening your heart and considering adopting a shelter dog. By making this commitment, you have not only found a friend for life...you have saved a life. If at any time you cannot keep the dog, you MUST return it to the Tunica Humane Society and not to another individual or shelter.
Our physical location is open by appointment only. We are a totally volunteer organization. We hold adoption events throughout the Memphis metro area each weekend and we post the events on our Facebook page.
We require a contract from each adopter and all adoptions are approved by the executive director, Sandy Williams. There is a $100 adoption donation. We know each of our animals by name and we can tell you all about them. We want the very best home for each animal and we want each adoption to be successful.
