Riley's Story...
Riley is an 11 month old spaniel / border collie mix who's extremely loyal and devoted to whomever he's become bonded with. He's extremely intelligent and has learned his basic obedience skills quickly and easily; in addition, he knows to stop on intersections and "leave it" when instructed. He has a high energy level so needs room to run and would be happiest with a doggy playmate; he adores other dogs. He also gets very animated when he sees his frisbee and never tires of chasing it. He would make a terrific agility dog because of his keen intellect, his desire to please as well as his need to be active. Riley was found as a stray and was significantly undersocialized; he's improved a great deal but would probably be best in a home without small children and lots of human activity as this would traumatize him. His adoption fee is $150; he's neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Indianapolis Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Border Collie/Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
