Mr. Too's Story...
Mr. Too is a super sweet heart and loves everyone once you get to know him. Mr. Too has the typical gorgeous white and orange/peach crest up top with all his feathers, but has a toe that goes in the wrong direction, possibly from incorrect or lack of perches. His nails are also currently very long from lack of previous grooming, but that will get under control and we will work on it slowly over time so as not to hurt him. He has a wonderful disposition and is a real “Velcro” bird who prefers to be with you as much as possible and would hang out with you all day long if you let him. Mr. Too just needs time to get used to strangers and people he doesn’t know, you just need to go very slow with him. He did not come to us from an ideal situation with his previous owner passing and then being handed down to a family that was not bird friendly, so he has some insecurities because of that. He is however a typical Cockatoo and can be LOUD when he is feeling ignored or lonely but does entertain himself quite well for the most part, for a cockatoo anyway! Mr. Too was on an unknown diet so we now have him on a pellet diet with Harrison's and zupreem as well as fresh vegetables and some fruit. He enjoys whole nuts like almonds in the shell as treats and he will try anything you offer. He is especially fond of sweet potatoes and ripe bananas. Mr. Too seemed a little spooked by dogs at first, but has done well around my Great Dane with time and space. We were told he preferred women but have NOT seen a preference as he goes to my adult son with no issues, we just think he needs to build back trust in humans that want to love and show him attention!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mr. Too, a Tampa Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
