Barney's Story...
Hello, my name is Barney, I am a 15 y/o Blue Front Amazon and I am a very cute, fast learner and extremely inquisitive. I have a full body of beautiful green, yellow, red and blue feathers. I keep them clean and get a little mist every day from my foster mom. She makes sure I am warm enough and don't catch a cold. I have lots of toys, but prefer to play on top of my cage and new play stand where I can look outside at see all the other pretty birds. I have a little yorkie friend that I watch while my mom’s at work and listen to the radio until my mom gets home. I get so excited to see her that I say come in and hello when I see her. I also give her a kiss. I am so happy that I run back and forth and chatter and chatter about and call out for grandma, when I don't see her. I like to sit on my foster moms hand when she can get me away from the cage were I feel safe (I am a little cage possessive). I love the play stand and can go room to room and watch her work.
My doctor says that I am a little under weight and that I have to take some medicine, so I feel better, which should be soon. I am trying to get off the full seed diet and get on mixed pellets. Hard to break bad habits, but I am trying with the help of my foster mom. I like to eat eggs, celery, bananas, apples, peppers and zucchini. I can't eat any yeast foods until I am better.
I like it when my foster moms older grandchildren come to visit and I get to talk a lot. I do like older kids; the little ones are a little too rambunctious for me.
If you think I am pretty and smart, please come and see me. I am looking for a FOREVER home where someone will love me unconditionally!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Barney, a Tampa Amazon was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Amazon for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Amazon from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Amazon breeders who help with Amazon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
