Lewis's Story...
Hi friends! My name is Lewis and I am a two year old chessie mix who is craaaazy for balls! Oh, hee hee, tennis balls I mean! I am a sweet spirit and also a very smart boy. I wasn't given much structure in my early years, ma and pa couldn't afford those fancy private schools - so I went to the school of hard knocks and I think I'm all the better for it! Like many of my classmates I learned to channel my energy into athletics - thereby avoiding a life of drugs, violence and gangs. That ball was all I had back then and I carry it with me now as a comfort. I am looking for a dog savvy owner who wants to make me his or her pal and really get me some structure and some awesome fun games to play to put my intellectual abilities to work! If you are into a real athlete with a heart of gold I am your guy!

I am good with other doggies but kitties make just a tad bit excited so best not to have a kitty in the home. I am just a bit exuberant for young kids so kids over 10 please.

I will be fixed with my adoption, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
My adoption fee is $120

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lewis, a Portland Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chesapeake Bay Retriever breeders who help with Chesapeake Bay Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
