Duckie's Story...
11/09/12 This young white ball of love is Duckie! Isn't he cute as a button? Found as a lost pet to a local high volume facility, Duckie is now at our safe haven ready to meet YOU! He was lucky to go home one night with our Canine Animal Care Manager and she reports he is very, very active and hyper! He loves to run and play, then run and play some more. He gets along well with other dogs and needs to be house trained. We hope you'll stop by and take him out, and hopefully fall in love!

The Delco SPCA is funded solely by adoption fees and donations. Adoption fees vary per animal, please call the Adoption Center and reference this animal's ID number in order to obtain accurate fee information. The system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed blend. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

To foster or adopt this dog please call the Delaware County SPCA at 610-566-1370 during adoption hours. You may also email Can't foster or adopt? Donate to help our homeless pets,

Our adoption requirements and a printable application form may be found here. All pets are altered, vaccinated and microchipped. Upon adoption you get a new leash and collar, 10 days of free post-adoption veterinary care at the Center and a complimentary vet visit at a local participating veterinarian. Plus unconditional staff love and support!

Not ready to adopt yet? You can still guarantee the safety and well-being of any of our dogs or puppies by temporarily fostering one or more right in your own home. Visit our foster page to learn about the program. Then, email your application along with any questions to for immediate review.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duckie, a Media Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bichon Frise for sale in Media, or seeking a Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in Media.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Media already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Media breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bichon Frise breeders who help with Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Media paves the way for another one to be saved.
