Jessica's Story...
My name is Jessica; I’m a little over a year and a half and I am pleased to be here. I finally get to find my forever home with the help of the people here at High Sierra. I am a chocolate lab who knows her stuff! I walk well on a leash and know the commands sit and come. I am a very social and obedient young lady. I think I would fit well in any type of household, whether it is one with kids, a single adult or whatever the case may be. I love all people. I hope that my forever family will play ball with me and take me to alot of new places like hiking or swimming or just out and about. If you think that I am the girl for you then come on down and see me, Jessica, at the High Sierra Animal Rescue. Pictures by Linda Cooley

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jessica, a Portola Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Portola, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Portola.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portola already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portola breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portola paves the way for another one to be saved.
