Oscar (3)'s Story...
Our boy Oscar is one handsome dude! He struts and strolls his way around the shelter like he owns the joint - except when he's napping in his favorite bed by the front door. Or his other favorite bed in the office by the window where he can watch the birds. This young man found his way to a rescuer's yard and was devoted to the fellow who fed and cared for him. He was very content to move into the fellow's house too but the current cat in residence was not happy to have a house guest. We have since found out that Oscar himself is pretty selective of his kitty friends and so would probably be very willing to be an only cat or maybe share the house with one very docile female who will let him rule the roost. It would appear that his outdoor time has taken a toll on Oscar's health. He is positive for FIV (feline immune deficiency virus) and also has a health issue related to his lungs. He is doing well despite his health concerns and here at the shelter just wants to either sit and purr all day on your lap or will have cute bouts of playfulness chasing balls down the corridor. Our vets feel that Oscar will have a good quality of life despite his disorders and we are confident that with an observant and understanding owner, both Oscar and his caregiver will find a wonderfully devoted partnership. Please come meet this outgoing guy. But watch out ---he will melt your heart!

FIV+ cats can lead long and healthy lives. For more information on FIV, read the following article - http://www.bestfriends.org/theanimals/petcare/cats_fiv.cfm. The shelter would consider sharing his medical expenses with a well qualified adopter.
