My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dasher is a very affectionate, playful and loving dog.  He loves people and is good with other pets.  He would make a wonderful family companion.  Dasher is approximately 1 - 1 1/2 years old and is a happy go lucky, fun pet.  Dasher is small to medium sized dog who weighs approximately 40 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Dasher is sweet, quiet, playful, cuddly and is learning his independence. He is always happy to see you and adjusts very quickly to any situation. He is laid back and easy going and will come when you call him. He is hilarious and makes me laugh when I watch him wiggle around and sleep in funny positions. Whoever he ends up with will love him and be so happy to have him as part of their family. He will make a wonderful companion.

Dasher is very healthy. His coat is beautiful and he has very healthy teeth and gums. He looks like a mini German Shepherd and has a very soft coat. Dasher almost acts older than his age, but looks like a puppy. He is very calm and does not get overly hyper.

Dasher does not steal food, only shows interest. When you ignore him he loses interest and is on to the next thing. He will eat food if it falls on the floor. He is very good at only chewing his squeaky toys and I have not caught him chewing any thing he shouldn't be. Dasher understands "sit". I am working on "lay down" and "stay" but he is a very quick learner and has made a lot of progress. Dasher is almost completely house trained. He knows to go outside to do his business. There have been a couple accidents, but each one was at the door that leads to the outsides or on a balcony. He does not pee in his crate or on the furniture. Dasher is crate trained. He does not enjoy going into his crate, but once he is in he is fine after a about 10 minutes. He just needs a little push to get in and might try to escape but once the crate door is shut he's fine. He will cry and occasionally howl when he's in there at first, but settles down and is completely quiet after 5-10 minutes. I have left him in his crate for up to 8 hours and he was fine.

He is very good on a leash, only pulling a little and might walk in front of you. With a little direction he is back in his place and is walking great beside you at your pace. He is great in the car. Without a crate he is more than happy to sit alone in the back seat and look out the window.

Dasher loves everything and everybody and just wants to be loved and pet. He would be good in a busy household or a calm one, just as long as he can cuddle with you on the couch. He is not shy. He would greet everybody if he could. I am not sure how he would be around cats, but I would think he would be fine with a cat in the house or another dog. He is very friendly. All the dogs at the dog park wanted to be his friend and he was very calm when they approached him for a quick sniff and gladly sniffed them right back. He was gentle at the park with the timid dogs and active and playful with the outgoing dogs. He does get nervous around dogs that are bigger then him, he will still greet them with manners, but he would rather not play with them.

Dasher has a moderate to low energy level. He will run around outside and play with his toys, but once you are done he will lay down and fall asleep. Dasher is definitely not a barker. He is very good and quiet in the apartment. He would make a great apartment dog.

If I had the time and money I would have loved to have kept Dasher myself. He is honestly one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of fostering. He's sweet, quiet, playful, cuddly and is learning his independence. He is always happy to see you and adjusts very quickly to any situation. He is laid back and easy going and will come when you call him. Whoever he ends up with will love him and be so happy to have him as part of their family. If you are looking for the dream dog, this is him. He will make a wonderful companion.

If you would like to make Dasher part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
