Audrey & Augie's Info...
| Breed: | Caique | Color: | Orange | Age: | Adult |
| Sex: | Male |
Augie and Audrey are the avian version of the odd couple! They are a bonded pair and must be adopted together; however, we suspect that these two will not remain long in foster care! Augie is a Hahn's macaw, the smallest species of the mini macaws. You can't tell by these pictures but Audrey the Caique is slightly larger than the Augie. They are such a riot! Typically, bonded birds prefer the company of each other and tend to not need human company as much, but this pair love to play with humans and each other - their first night in foster care they played for an hour with the young teenage daughter running up and down her bed and letting her handle them!
For breakfast they enjoy medium Zupreem pellets fruit mix with Higgins Safflower Gold mix (peanuts removed) topped with Leasa snack sprouts. In the evening they get brown rice and mixed veggies heated slightly in the microwave.
Augie, the Hahn's macaw is very, very protective of Audrey and will bite any other bird that gets near, so special attention has to be given to keep other birds from being bitten. They are used to spending a lot of time out of their cage and they share a nice cage and they travel together in one pet carrier as well. Won’t you consider giving this wonderful pair a new home?
Rescue Group Info...
Florida Parrot Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of companion parrots. We strive to educate parrot owners on proper handling and care of parrots. Should someone be unable to keep their bird(s) for ANY reason, we want them to know there is a place to turn, and that they are not alone. It is our goal to provide a safe haven for birds that cannot stay with their owners or birds in need, and then to find those birds permanent forever homes with loving and responsible families.
Our rescues are located in homes through out the state. We will work with the fosters and potential adopters to set up dates and times.
We require an application which is free of charge, an adoption fee which varies on the bird you wish to adopt. We do NOT adopt our for breeding purposes.
