Mavis is a submissive, sweet and gentle, affectionate one-year-old Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix. She is taller in the back end with a more bushy tail like a Lab, and she does not have the overall confirmation of a pure-bred Pit Bull. Mavis is a wonderful blend of light, playful energy, in spurts, and overall, is low to moderate energy. In the house, she is calm. Mavis weighs about 50 lbs. She is a love, and she enjoys coming over to you to say Hi, putting her head in your lap for some petting and kisses, but does not need your constant attention. Mavis is essentially a house dog who also enjoys the outdoors and the yard. She is not a dog to be matched up to an overly energetic pit bull type; she, in fact, gravitates to the smaller dogs and knows how to tone her play style down for their benefit. (This is not to say that Mavis cannot also be paired up with a dog her own size or larger; it just depends on the dog and the level of energy.)
Mavis was rescued from the South L.A. Shelter where she was going to be euthanized in spite of being a shelter favorite. No rescue would pull her, due to, she had a simple tibia fracture to her right leg. The shelter cast her leg to support it, and once Angel’s Heart saved her, straight to the Ortho Specialist she went. Lucky for Mavis, under the supervision of a top orthopedic vet, her leg healed on its own. She has now been completely cleared by that Orthopedic Specialist for adoption (documentation can be provided) and there are no impediments or restrictions.
Mavis sleeps in a large wire crate at night and is quiet. She enjoys relaxing with a thick raw hide chew. She is so potty trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) that she goes to the farthest corner of the yard to do her business. So far, she has never had an accident in my house, however, I do avail all of the rescue dogs with proper potty opportunities. So if you are looking for a sweet and gentle, lower energy dog who is still somewhat playful, and who will be nice to all dogs, even small dogs, then Mavis is your girl!
Mavis is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Mavis, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue if you have not already submitted your interest first by way of e-mail. Please ensure that you have read the dog’s bio and have visited my website at: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com and gone to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process; thank you!
