Bogie's Story...
Meet Bogie, 4 y old, beautiful pure bred black Flat Coat Retriever. Bogie loves hiking and swimming especially. He loves to play ball and will retrieve anything you throw especially when you throw it in water. He gets along great with all animals, loves his dog and cat friends as well as chickens and horses! This dog would be great in an active home with kids as he loves children. He is a very sweet and loyal companion. Bogie is very well house trained and is neutered as well. He is a very active boy who was given to me by his owners who could no longer care for him. Small rehoming fee,

About Our Rescue Group...
Welcome Friends! The Animal Center ("The Center") is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals. Our goal is to help end companion animal homelessness and prevent cruelty to animals in Newtown and the broader Connecticut community by providing services that foster the bond between humans and animals. We also pull many dogs from high kill shelters in Georgia. We are a foster only organization so in order to visit any dog, an appointment must be made.
Our Adoption Process...
The Animal Center runs its rescue programs entirely through a volunteer foster network. We do not have a shelter. This means we don't have a central location where all our adoptable animals are kept, nor do we have viewing "hours" because our adoptable animals are in the safety and comfort of private homes, not in a shelter facility.

To adopt, please fill out our adoption form on the website for the animal you're interested in. When we receive your form, our volunteers will contact you to set up a day and time that works for you to meet the cat or dog you're interested in.

Adoption Includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test, microchipping and deworming. Adoption fee varies dog to dog staring around $250 for an adult dog and $350 for a puppy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bogie, a Newtown Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Newtown, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Newtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
