Artemis's Story...
Artemis is approx 14 weeks old. He was brought in as a stray all by himself to a high kill shelter where he didn't stand a chance... and we pulled him. He is so happy to be out of there and will be even happier when he finds a home of his very own! If you are interested in him, please fill out our online application. We cannot respond to individual emails. Thank you.
The FASTEST way to reach us about this animal is by email:

Due to limited resources and a large call volume, it may take us several days to respond to calls but we typically respond to email same-day.

To adopt, simply out the adoption form for the animal you are interested in and submit email or fax it to us.

We do not have a shelter so before you can meet any of the animals in our program, you need to submit an adoption form and that animal's foster family will get back to you promptly.

You can find the dog adoption form at
The Animal Center
PO Box 475
Newtown, CT 06470

The Animal Center’s cat and dog rescue program are foster based (we don’t have a shelter). Adoptions are made by appointment only.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Artemis, a Newtown Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Newtown, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Newtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
