Ruff Ruff! My name is Vence

Vence's Story...
We rarely accept private-party dogs into our program, however Vence came to us with a story so exceptional, that we considered his situation to be every bit as urgent as those we see at public animal shelters.
Vence is a big, beautiful neutered male shepherd, approximately 2 years of age, who for 5-months, lived in a chain-link kennel on a rural hill after his owner had been incarcerated [see attached photo]. He endured extreme temperatures and dangerous environmental conditions until his devoted rescuer moved him from these potentially life-threatening conditions and relinquished him to our care. We are thrilled to have him.
Vence is a diamond in the rough. He is exceptionally smart and strikingly beautiful. Since he was encouraged to be protective of his previous owner, his social skills remain a work in process. In fact, potential adopters should expect multiple meetings with Vence before he is comfortable enough to let his guard down. He has shown us that he loves people who he knows and trusts, however, he will likely be handler protective for some time to come. He loves balls and he loves water. Vence’s playful disposition makes him an excellent candidate for obedience training. We require an adult-only home for Vence with previous German Shepherd experience.
