Moortje's Story...
Meet sweet Moortje.

Moortje was first spotted this past summer near a kind lady's house. The poor girl was very skinny and wandering around with her hungry kittens. She started to leave food and water out for them, and eventually, this lady was able to trap them and bring them indoors. They were taken to the vet and have made their way to a clean bill of health. Moortje is on high quality food now and her once thin frame has filled out nicely. She is a healthy and happy little kitty.

Her fur is all black, sleek and soft. She has beautiful yellow eyes on the sweetest little face. She is quite small. A lot of females that have kittens at a young age never really grow very big. We suspect this is the case with her.

Moortje's foster mom named her. Her name means “little black one” in Dutch. Moortje is also the name of Anne Frank's cat.

Moortje has been adjusting to her new life indoors. She is seeking out attention from her foster mom and even likes to meet her at the door. She loves to be patted and brushed. She actually was not sure how to play at first, but now loves chasing a feather toy on a stick. She is still definitely on the timid side, but is making good progress. She will need a patient, caring owner to give her a forever home.

Moortje has been dewormed, spayed, and vaccinated. She is ready for adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Moortje, a Toronto Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Toronto, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Toronto.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toronto already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toronto breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toronto paves the way for another one to be saved.
