Abel is the more timid of the two but he is also the more gentle, quiet and laid back. Athough he has had no formal training Abel is very intelligent and aims to please. He was house trained very easily after only two days in foster care. He is still very unsure of the outside world and will need time and patience with his new owner to learn confidence and that there is nothing to fear. Abel also enjoys pets and cuddles from his person and although he would be good with other dogs, he would need one on one attention.
Here is what his foster mom had to say:
Abel is a little wallflower of a dog. He is very sweet and loving once he knows that the people around him are safe. He is very endearing in his ways and prefers to sit back and watch the action rather than getting involved in it.
I have been working with Abel and he is coming around. He now knows the commands stay, wait and drop it. Of course obedience training would be good but that would have to wait until he is fully socialized and has learned that there is nothing to fear out in the world of people. I have not tried him on leash, as for now I would suspect he would be too scared.
He will sometimes raise his lip at my dogs if he feels they are too rambunctious or invading his personal space, generally he is fine though. He is okay with cats in the home but will chase them if they are outside. He has no fear of cars or loud noise, just people!
I believe Abel is non-shedding and his is very quiet in the home. That might change once he becomes more confident.
Abel is a sweet little companion. He needs a home where he can feel safe and with someone that can continue with his socialization around people and other dogs. Once he comes out of his shell, he is really a lovely little dog and will make a great pet for a calm and relaxed household. I don't believe he would do well with young children or in a very busy environment.
