My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone!

My name is Rambler and I'm a mild-mannered 5 y/o boy. I weigh a perfect 30lbs.

Right now I live with my foster family that includes 4 adults but no young kids. I also have a cute 10 mo/old foster sister puppy named Pepper! She's a BREW puppy too and has a lot of energy. Funny thing about puppies, they like to steal all the toys, wrestle and play and climb on the furniture. I'm okay with that. We play outside a couple times each day in our big fenced-in yard. I let Pepper win most of the time except when she wants all the rawhides. That I keep close watch on and, if she takes mine, I take hers. Can you tell I love rawhide?

My family is so impressed with me because I'm completely house trained. No accidents in the house or crate. I marked outside in my new yard and that was ok but one time I tried to mark in the house, my foster mom said, "Uh,ah," really loudly. Good thing I already knew that meant NO and I haven't tried to mark anything else.

Speaking of knowing things, (I know you'll be impressed too!) I know a lot of commands: Sit, Come, Stay, and Heel. My foster mom knows someone took time to train me :-)

Some of my favorite things are rawhides (can’t say that enough), taking an afternoon walk with my foster sister. We walk really well and I can Heel until.....well, until I see one of those pesky squirrels. Then I give a good leash tug and try to chase. Just like a Beagle should, right? Remember to hold my leash tightly in squirrel zones.

We also met some nice people on our walk and I loved the head pat and hug. I wasn't afraid at all.

My family wants you to know I'm a sweet laid-back medium/low energy guy. I have no interest in getting on your furniture and am happy to sleep in the dog bed or on a rug on the floor. (See---that's a good boy!) I earned the privilege to sleep in the dog bed after only a few days and stay there all night. I have a crate and Pepper and I are crated when no one is home but, if I know you are here, I will bark and bark. Crating is not my favorite thing but I can tolerate it if we go in the car or I have to stay home. If you live in an apartment, I would be good only if it doesn't involve the crate.

I do have a couple of quirks. I like pillows and will try to take those off the couch or out of the crates. They don't pull out of a crate easily, so I pull the crate around the house and keep trying. It's pretty funny. My foster mom thinks I want to chew on the pillow edge and then lie on it. I also like to chew on zippers. How fun! The one on my dog bed was the best but I've also sampled my foster mom's robe and found a pillowcase with a zipper. Lastly, I can be kind of gassy. The vet said it's from anxiety and excitement. When I'm calm, no problem.

If you'd like to have a nice mellow "move in ready" Beagle boy, pick me: Rambler!
