Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pepito is estimated to be three years old. He is a mystery mix, but our best guess is a Chihuahua mix; mixed with what? We don’t know. He is black and tan and is about ten pounds. He was found as a stray in San Bernardino and was taken to a high kill shelter where he was rescued and brought to Oregon. Pepito is quite shy and he has clearly had to fend for himself for some time. He is in a foster home and is slowly learning to trust people and learn what it is like to be a part of a family and sleep in a house. An ideal home for him would be one in which his people understand his need for space and trust building. He is a sweet dog once he gets to know you and trust you, but his people will have to earn his trust. He is a good dog for someone who wants to experience the challenge of working with a true “rescue” dog and has the ability to commit to him and help him through the process. His foster mom reports that he is making a lot of progress, but an adaptation period into a new home is always to be expected for any rescued pet. Pepito is good with children, good with other dogs, is neutered, current on all vaccinations and is microchipped. While Pepito would not likely hurt a cat, he likes to chase them and this would be too stressful for a cat in someone’s home, therefore, we recommend a home with not cats for Pepito.
