My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ziggy is a wonderful boy who is coming into the care of Italian Greyhound Place due to unfortunate lifestyle changes of his owner (divorce, foreclosure, bankruptcy, unemployment, and a necessary move).

Ziggy, who will be five-years old in December), was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago and receives two insulin injections, twice daily, after meals. Therefore, it is necessary for his adopter to accept and be willing and able to care for this condition.

"The happiest, sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever known," is how Ziggy's owner describes him. He loves to cuddle on your lap or under covers, but has an active side as well. Outgoing, with no tendency to be aloof, Zigs adores children, lives with a cat, and loves other dogs. Due to his socialability, he tends to pull on his leash when he sees people (something that could be worked on, without making him less social!). His favorite play companion is currently a dachshund who lives near him, and he enjoys visiting the dog park and playing with other small dogs (large dogs could inadvertently hurt him). Ziggy is housetrained ("goes" outside and on doggy pee pads), and does not have accidents or mark in his current home. Since Ziggy does not like his crate, when he has to be left alone, he stays in the kitchen with the cat. He travels nicely in the car.
