DRUMMER's Story...
Drummer is a sweet, little 7-week-old puppy who arrived on November 17th. He has a beautiful brindle with black coat and is just as cute as can be. Drummer is your typical, young puppy. He needs to be housebroken, LOVES TO PLAY, loves to give kisses, and loves to take naps after playing for a while. Being a puppy, he of course, gets along with everyone in his foster home and is having a blast with the large selection of toys and foster-siblings he has to play with. As I learn more about him, I will be more than happy to continue to update you with photos and videos of this adorable little boy. I am looking forward to watching his personality develop during his stay in his foster home. Additionally, I am crate-training him. Sometimes, he protests being in there, especially when everyone else is out and about, but after a short while he settles right down and goes to sleep. His mother is a pure-bred dachshund, and the father is believed to be a small brindle cur mix. As we get to know this sweet one better, we will update the description.
Drummer is turning out to be quite the sweetheart! While he is your typical puppy in many ways, he seems more interested in following people around or pouncing on the other dogs in the house rather than going off on his own to explore. He loves to play with toys. When he occasionally starts chewing on something he should not (i.e. a shirt sleeve) he is very willing to accept a substitute such as a nylabone or stuffed toy as something just as suitable. On several occasions, he’s come over to me, crying and pawing at my legs to get up. When I pick him and bring him to my chest, he snuggles up and is sound asleep in a matter of a minute or less! He wants nothing more then to snuggle with someone. At night, due to his age, he has slept with foster mom. He wakes up numerous times a night if crated during the night. So that we could sleep, we snuggle with him. He sleeps through the night that way. If you are interested in seeing additional photos, please friend Sheryl's Den on Facebook. This animal is currently fostered in a private home. Our rescue is 100% foster home based. We do not have a shelter or kennel. They are cared for by a loving family until adopted. Each pup has had their first vet exam, a shot, and de-worming, etc We make sure they have no fleas prior to going into our foster homes. They are fostered out of the shelter at least two weeks or more prior to adopting to monitor health. We take their care seriously!

Please note that the adoption appointments will be scheduled after your application is approved. Once adopted, feel free to change the dog's name. You do not have to keep the name listed in this post.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

DRUMMER, a West Milford Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in West Milford, or seeking a Dachshund puppy from a breeder in West Milford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Milford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Milford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Milford paves the way for another one to be saved.
