Bradly's Story...
Meet Bradly, a sweet energetic 1 1/2 year old lab mix. Bradly loves to run and he especially loves to swim. He can be a bit shy and afraid when he meets new people, especially men, but he does warm up to people with a bit of time. He gets along well with other dogs and currently lives in a home with cats, which he has never had a problem with. Bradly's family loves him and would love to keep him, but he has developed a little game which they can't seem to break him of. They live on a farm, next to a river, they raise sheep. Bradly has discovered that it is great fun to chase the sheep into the river and then swim after them. Unfortunately the sheep drown. They have lost 2 sheep and almost lost a third, because of Bradly's love of this game and they haven't figured out a way to prevent it. For this reason, they need to find Bradly a new home.
Bradly, as I mentioned, is an active dog and loves to exercise, but he was born with bad hips and so some movements do bother him, like getting up after sleeping, or squatting down to go to the bathroom. He can do these things, but it is obvious that they are a bit uncomfortable. The vet has said that nothing can be done to fix his hips, but added that Bradly could live a full long life without much trouble. There are medications he can take that might be helpful (Cosequin for example) and the fact that he does love to swim and exercise is the best thing for him, especially the swimming.
We need to find Bradly a new and understanding family, or failing that, we need a foster home for him. With his hip condition, and with winter coming on, the shelter is not a good place for him, since we have no indoor heated shelter for our dogs at present. Being out in the cold weather will be hard for him. If you can help Bradly out, please give us a call!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bradly, a Colville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Colville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Colville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Colville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Colville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Colville paves the way for another one to be saved.
