Here is what his foster family had to say:
Donnie is so loyal and devoted to his family and he is extremely friendly!!!! With strangers he will be shy initially, but then he loves everyone. He is excellent with my 4 year old, they play fetch :-) and she likes to hug/pet Donnie. He is shy initially when meeting new people, but quickly warms up; unless they're wearing a hat. He is not a fan of hats, especially at night.
Donnie is great with our cats, all our pets have different personalities - One cat is very shy, and Donnie will sniff her and leave her alone. One of our other cats is VERY confident, and Donnie and he will walk together, butting heads... ;-) and the last of the cats is old, grumpy, hissy... she intrigues Donnie, and he will give a little chase towards her - but nothing more than a few steps. He'll try and find her, but she runs off - he never gives chase. We also have a rabbit - he's approached the cage twice, the bunny thumped - Donnie hasn't shown any other interest in the rabbit. At the park? Donnie is VERY keen to play and run with other dogs.
Donnie is in very good health. Lean, shiny coat...a handsome beastie! He is still very puppyish and came to us with no training, so we are attempting to teach him some commands. We're working on "sit", "down", "leave it", and "settle". He will hover expectantly for food when it's in hand, but never touched anything on a plate. He surfs for crumbs on the floor, but never jumped up at the table - not even the coffee table. He LOVES to chew, preferably fabric (or paper/cardboard). He will attempt to jump onto the couch - but generally, it's because he's after cuddles. We have never left him uncrated, home alone.
Donnie is completely house trained - he holds his toilet well, too well - as he prefers NOT to "go" in the back yard, but when walked. Donnie is crate trained but does not like to go into the crate and will make a fuss at first but settles after a few minutes. He is almost completely leash trained - he pulls initially until he has done his business and then he settles and walks nicely.
Donnie loves running, playing (he's quite good at "fetch") - he is a HUGE suck and take all the cuddles, kisses, and belly rubs that are offered. He is a very energetic young dog with lots of love to give. He's very eager to please and be rewarded with praise and love. He is also very submissive; so he needs time spent with him training him. I think he needs a family like himself - young, outgoing, and outdoorsy; and able to spend the time training Donnie. With proper training, and good listening on his part Donnie will make a very loyal and loving addition to a family, and an excellent companion. I imagine him frolicking through woodland, or racing along a beach... a great outdoors dog, and a fabulous canine friend.
